Gold Figa Charm Bracelet
USA
1950's
Set in 18k yellow gold and consisting of nine Figa* charms. Two are of ivory and gold, one of ebony wood and gold, two of gold, one of aquamarine and gold, one of coral and gold, one of green agate and gold and one of jadeite and gold. This is a very heavy bracelet- in a good way. Length of bracelet is 7.5 inches and longest charm is 2.25 inches and the shortest 1.5 inches.

*The Figa (fee-gah) is a symbol of an age-old myth in Africa, this clenched-fist good-luck charm came to Brazil with its XVII century slave trade. As its memories paled over generations, belief in its powers to increase warriors' fertility also faded, and until present it is prized by Brazilians for luck, prosperity, and protection.
